One day in Venice: best itinerary out of the crowd

Are you planning to spend one day in Venice during your Italian trip?

If you are going to spend no more than one day in Venice, consider to reach the city by train. Train is the best solution to save time and money.

Once you reach Venezia Santa Lucia don’t get stressed by the large ammount of tourist from all over the world. We will set you free from the crowd.

Outside the train station  on the other side of the canal you will see the church of San Simeon Piccolo. Leave it as last thing to see before take your train back. Spending one day in Venice, you will need to ride 2 or three ferries. Get your ticket at Venezia Unica’s desk. It is right in front pf the train station.

For a more authentical view of the city, just turn left keeping the canal on your right. Walk for a few hundreds meters along Strada Nuova untill you reach Guglie stone-bridge.

Once you cross the bridge, turn left on Fondamenta Cannaregio. The second calle on the right will take you straight inside Venice Ghetto: the heart of Jewish community in Venice.

Leaving Venice Ghetto heading north, not many people know about Tintoretto’s Universal Judgement kept inside the church of Madonna dell’Orto, or the majestic fresco of Sant Alvise. They both worth a visit!

Reach Orto’s ferry embarcadero get line 5.1 (direction Lido) and stop at Celestia , you are next to Venice Arsenale.

Surely what you can not miss in Venice is Piazza San Marco but, if you wish to stay out of the crowd, reach it passing by the Church of San Zaccaria, this itinerary will keep you out of the tourist flow.

From San Marco square, get ferry n.1 (direction Piazzale Roma) to reach Salute, where is the ancient Custom and the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute.

Again, take line n.1 ferry to Piazzale Roma for an amazing boat trip on Canal Grande untill Rialto .

Cross one of the most famous bridge in the world to access the Pescherie, where Venice largest fish-market takes places every day since hundreds years.

With a short walk on the way back you can reach Basilica dei Frari and San Rocco’s Scuola Grande before your deserved rest in one of the beautiful garden of Venice: Giardino Papadopoli.
